2010 Rules of Play / Addendum
CADDIES / MOTORIZED GOLF CARTS

Caddies or the use of a motorized golf cart are not allowed at UJGA-sanctioned events except for the U.S. Junior Amateur, U.S. Girls Junior qualifying tournaments and the Challenge Cup Matches (carts only). If a caddie is used at a USGA event, they must meet the USGA’s caddie requirement as indicated on the tournament entry form.

The UJGA has adopted the policy of allowing Caddies for the Boys 9-10 / 8 & Under and all Girls divisions. All caddies must follow the UJGA Code of Conduct rules, this to include the UJGA Dress Code. 

Note: Caddies are not allowed in the Boys 11-12 age divisions.

Caddie requirements:

  • Caddie must be at least 16 years of age and must be a family member (parent, guardian, sibling, grandparent, aunt, uncle or cousin).
  • To become a UJGA Caddie, individuals must complete the Caddie Certification Quiz
  • Inappropriate conduct will result in the immediate revoking of a Caddie Certification

Caddies are allowed to: (Definition: Rule 6-4 USGA Rules of Golf)

  • Carry the player’s clubs during play.
  • Give advice
  • Help player with the Rules of Golf
  • Caddie for more than one player in a group, both players must be related to the caddie (see relationship requirement above). Must advise the other players / parents in the group know that you will be assisting both players.

Things a Caddie is not allowed to:

  • Stand behind the player as an extension of the line of play / putt while he / she play a stroke.
  • Touch or test the surface of a hazard.
  • Prevent a ball from traveling its original path or placement (Rule 1-2)
  • Give advice to other players unless they are also caddying for them.

CADDIE CERTIFICATION

Before you are allowed to Caddie, you must complete the 25 questions UJGA Caddie Quiz and obtain a minimum score of 20 or attend a UJGA Rules of Golf workshop and complete the players Quiz that is given at the workshop. All Caddie Quizzes are to be turned into the UJGA Office before being approved as a caddie.

Caddies or the use of a motorized golf cart are not allowed at UJGA sanctioned events other than following exception:

    • Caddies are allowed at the United States Junior Amateur and Girls Junior Qualifying tournaments and must meet the USGA guidelines.
