2010 Rules of Play / Addendum
GALLERY POLICY
It is the objective of the UJGA to allow galleries at all sanctioned events. When a gallery is permitted, the UJGA has adopted a Code of Conduct for all galleries. The following is a summary of the gallery rules:
- WALKING NEXT TO A PLAYER is prohibited. Gallery members must maintain a 50-foot distance from all players, keep up with the group they are following and remain on the cart path if one is provided (remain in the rough-cut area if no cart path).
- WALKING IN THE FAIRWAY CUT of the hole being played is prohibited with the exception that a gallery member can cross a fairway to aide in the search of a golf ball or to get to the next hole.
- WALKING AHEAD or BEHIND THE GROUP is prohibited.
- COACHING ANY PLAYER during a stipulated round is prohibited.
- CELL PHONE USE in “talking” while on the golf course is prohibited. Gallery members are allowed to “text” message and must keep the cell phone in a “vibrating” mode.
- CARRYING PLAYER’S ITEMS (rain gear, sweaters, etc.) that the player may use during the round is prohibited. Violation of this would constitute that the person carrying the items is a caddie as the items are considered the player’s equipment by the USGA Rules of Golf / Definition of Equipment.
Gallery members may:

Make positive comments on player’s performance as long as no prejudice is shown toward a specific player.

May rent golf carts if the host facility permits. Carts must remain on cart path or the rough cut of grass if no cart path is available. Gallery member must follow only one group and must follow ALL golf course facility policies and rules. Must remain with one group (cannot go back and forth amongst groups)

Tournament participants (UJGA members) may be gallery members upon completion of their stipulated round, but must follow gallery policies. Players are allowed to ride in a golf cart with a parent or guardian 19-years of age or older provided all gallery rules are followed.
Gallery Members must wear a UJGA “Gallery Pass” while on the golf course. Gallery members can obtain passes from UJGA officials at the starter or scoring tents. Failure to comply with the UJGA Gallery Policy may result in a player being disqualified and/or the Gallery Members privileges being revoked.
